AKMU'S JOURNEY

"AKMU's dream is to make a lot of people happy."

PRE-DEBUTAlthough they were born in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, AKMU spent five years of their childhood in Mongolia as their parents were missionaries. They were also home-schooled.+KPOP STAR - 2012The siblings auditioned for Kpop-Star (season 2) and eventually won the competition. They then Signed with YG entertainment.(Their Kpop-Star performances can be found in the discography section.)

• AKMU - Don't Cross Your Legs

+DEBUT - 2014In 2014, AKMU finally debuted with their full album "PLAY". This album saw the birth of legendary tracks such as "200%", "GIVE LOVE" and "MELTED".AKMU continued to top the Korean charts with later releases such as with their single "Time and Fallen Leaves" (2014) and their first mini album "Spring" (2016).+WINTER, SUMMER, ENLISTMENT - 2017In 2017, AKMU released their second full album "Winter" which was the first real shift towards a more mature sound from them. The title track "Last Goodbye" topped major Korean charts and is one of their best performing songs.AKMU then released their first EP "SUMMER" where for the first time the duo experimented with edm in their title track "DINOSAUR".On the 13th of September, Chanhyuk left for the military and AKMU's activities as a duo were put on hold.+SUHYUN'S SOLO JOURNEY - 2018Before he left, Chanhyuk wrote and composed songs for Suhyun, so she could release them in a solo album. The initial plan was for her to make her own solo debut while AKMU as a duo was currently on hiatus. Suhyun didn't end up releasing an album this year and later explained that she did not want to use the songs her brother wrote and composed; instead she wanted to become an artist of her own, writing and composing her own music.While not having released a solo album, Suhyun accomplished so many things this year and made a name for herself outside of AKMU and music.She was a radio show host for KBS's corner "AKMU Suhyun's: Volume Up", up until Chanhyuk came back from the military.She became a permanent member of JTBC's "Begin Again".Suhyun also sang the OST "Sori" for the Korean Drama "Mr Sunshine"; this would be the start of her career in solo osts.+SAILING, A NEW CHAPTER - 2019Chanhyuk had finally returned from the military and the duo released their third full album "SAILING". The album was released alongside Chanhyuk's debut novel "Fish Meets Water" which he also wrote during his time in the marines.SAILING was extremely loved by the Korean GP, topping all major charts in the country. Its title track "How Can I Love The Heartbreak, You're The One I Love" is AKMU's longest charting song and has broken many YG artist records.+ALIEN, HAPPENING, TURNING THE PAGE - 2020In 2020 (October 16th) Suhyun finally made her much anticipated solo debut with the single "ALIEN". The track was written and produced by Chanhyuk.Then a month later, AKMU returned as a duo and released the single "Happening".+NEXT EPISODE - 2021In 2021, AKMU ventured into a lot of new and exciting projects.Chanhyuk launched his own homeware brand "SAY TOUCHÉ".Suhyun debuted her own radio show called "Suhyun's Forest".AKMU appeared on the variety shows "Amazing Saturday" and "Alone Nice", while Suhyun appeared on JTBC's "Sea of Hope".They released a collaboration album on the 26th July, working with legendary artists like IU and Lee Sunhee to give us the most creative of concepts and melodies.

Chanhyuk has written and composed every AKMU song (including his sister's debut solo ALIEN).In 2019, Chanhyuk published a novel called Fish Meets Water, which he wrote over the course of his enlistment (he joined the marine corps in 2017). The novel was inspired by his time at sea and eventually it was published alongside the release of AKMU's third full album SAILING. Chanhyuk commented saying that the novel served as a greater, more detailed look into the narrative he had created in the album. Chanhyuk also participated in a song making contest in the marines and won; the song is called 해병승전가 (Marine Victory).Chanhyuk launched his very own home decor brand called SAY TOUCHÉHe now has a youtube channel called: Leechanhyukvideo

Suhyun has begun to compose and write songs
but none of them have been officially released yet.Suhyun made her solo debut with the single ALIEN on October 16th, 2020.She debuted as a subunit with Lee Hi called HISUHYUN on November 18th 2014.

(where she played a convenience store worker)Suhyun was a DJ/Radio show host for KBS' Volume Up for two years, during Chanhyuk's enlistment back in 2018.She now hosts her own radio show called Suhyun's Forest which airs on Now TV.
(It has finished its first season.)Suhyun also runs her own youtube channel called Leesuhyun (formerly known as Mochipeach).
(Some of her videos include make-up tutorials, covers, vlogs, mukbangs and lots of other content).She appeared on three seasons of begin again, garnering over millions of views for her performances.She was a judge on JTBC's Superband

+LEE CHANHYUK is making his solo debut on the 17th October 2022.It is a full length album called ERROR, consisting of 11 tracks.The title track is called Panorama and will have a music video. (The mv teaser is linked below as well as the album sample. <3)
